If you ever found yourself saying “Oh I wish I could do something like that!”…
then this class is so like, totally for you.
Crochet is a fun and versatile craft that can be used in heaps of super awesome ways, from making heart breakingly cute stuffed animals and toys to the snuggliest blankets ever made, or trendy homewares or fabulous clothing – the list goes on. So you see, this is a craft well worth mastering.
Whether you want to make your own handmade gifts, be a supermum and make your kids entire wardrobe or feed your sneaky sock fettish – crochet has an answer for your needs!
So come along and give it a try in this beginner’s class where you can learn how to crochet from the ground up, in a fun but informative way, where you will be guided through the basics of crochet.
Oh you know, lots of stuff…
Like how to hold the hook, reading yarn labels, how to choose your own hook and yarn, how to get the yarn on the hook in the first place, how to make a chain, where on earth to put the hook after that, then two different stiches and how to crochet in the round.
Asa-Marie will be your teacher, she’s been crocheting for 7 years but has always been a craft nut.
Seriously. What she can’t do with a yogurt pot isn’t worth knowing. She can also hand sew, dabbles in embroidery and is pretty good at cross stitch too.
With a desire to teach, she went after a qualification in Training and Assessment and after receiving her certificate, she came to Laneway. A total believer in make do and mend and the belief that you can probably make most things better yourself – she’s naturally keen to pass on her skills to those inclined to learn, whatever your reason.
On the immediate horizon is an etsy shop called The Crafty Poppet, where she makes and sells amazing crocheted jewelry and with the next step being a brand new craft blog under the same name – oh buttons is it getting rather crafty up in here.
As if that wasn’t enough Asa-Marie has promised to come back to Laneway with even more supercrafty treats up her sleeve!
